Longwoods builds high quality handcrafted round style log homes and timber frame homes. We use northern white pine, an average diameter of 16". They are winter cut, air dried, and hand peeled utilizing the Scandinavian full scribe method. Each log is precisely scribed to fit the log below. Our saddle notch used on the corners provides for an extremely tight draft and water-resistant notch. It takes approximately six to eight weeks to construct a log shell at our 10 acre work site. The logs are then tagged, loaded onto trucks, strapped and transported to our customer's building site where the log shell is re-assembled in two or three days, depending on the size and complexity of the building.
