The Fused Glass Diva has taken on a new twist to an old art form! Traditionally, reverse painting on glass is a “cold art” form consisting of applying oil paint to a piece of glass and then viewing the image by turning the glass over and looking through the glass at the image. Lori takes it a step further with a special glass enamel paint and adds about 1400 degrees Fahrenheit! Every layer of paint gets fired in a kiln. The result is beautiful intensely coloured glass. Most projects will take between 3 and 7 kiln firings. Layers of glass in combination with reverse painting, heat, and gravity, all come together resulting in quirky outcomes, giving it a quaint folk art physicality that is part of the charm.
