Ottawa Muslim Cemetery Inc

The Ottawa Muslim Cemetery Inc. (OMC) was incorporated as a not- for-profit, charitable organization (Charitable Registration No. 894375187RR0001), to establish a cemetery for the Muslim community in the Ottawa-Gatineau region and to provide a means for the Muslim community to follow the requirements of Islamic funeral observances. In 1994 work began to establish the first Muslim cemetery in the Nation’s Capital. As the Muslim population continues to grow, the need for a Muslim cemetery to complement the funeral services and related facilities at mosques is a priority to ensure that the Islamic traditions of burial are preserved for our families now and in the future.
